This Athearn EMD SD40 decorated for Kansas City Southern is a pre-owned HO Scale locomotive representing one of Electro-Motive Division's most successful and widely used freight locomotives. Introduced in the mid-1960s, the SD40 earned a reputation for reliability, strong pulling power, and versatility, making it a favorite among railroads across North America.

Carefully inspected as part of our pre-owned inventory program, this locomotive is DCC Ready and provides an excellent foundation for operators who wish to add their preferred decoder.
