Product Overview

Introduced by General Electric in 2002 as part of the groundbreaking Evolution Series, the ES44 family quickly became one of the defining locomotives of modern North American railroading. Nearly 8,000 Evolution Series locomotives were ultimately produced, and many remain in heavy mainline service today.

Broadway Limited's latest HO scale ES44AC represents a major step forward for the model. Unlike previous BLI GEVO releases, this production features all-new die-cast tooling, following the construction approach used on Broadway Limited's popular HO scale SD70ACe. The heavy die-cast body and chassis provide substantial weight and tractive effort while metal handrails, road-specific details, etched-metal components, and fine decoration bring the exterior to life.

Paragon4-equipped models take the experience even further with factory-installed sound and dual-mode DC/DCC operation, GoPack capacitance, individually controllable lighting, and synchronized variable-intensity smoke. Together, those features give this modern road locomotive the sights, sounds, and substantial operating presence to match its prototype.

Landmark, America 250 & Modern Schemes

This production introduces an especially colorful collection of contemporary locomotives, including Norfolk Southern's Chicago and Altoona Landmark units and No. 8118 in the Stars & Stripes America 250 treatment.

BNSF is represented by three America 250 locomotives carrying the symbolic road numbers 250, 1776 and 2026. Canadian National joins the celebration with No. 1776 in the Screaming Eagle design and No. 2026 in the Air Force One scheme, while Union Pacific is represented by two ES44ACs in its recognizable Building America graphics.
