Product Overview

Built in the United States between 2004 and 2014, the EMD SD70ACe was introduced as the successor to the successful SD70MAC. Originally designed to meet EPA Tier 2 emissions requirements and later updated for Tier 3 standards, the SD70ACe became one of the defining heavy-haul diesel locomotives of its generation.

Powered by EMD's 16-710-G3C-T2 prime mover, the SD70ACe produces 4,300 horsepower, with later Tier 3 examples rated at 4,500 horsepower. Its revised underframe, wide radiator section, relocated dynamic brakes, and distinctive cab design give the locomotive an unmistakably modern appearance while improving maintenance accessibility and crew accommodations.

Broadway Limited's N scale models capture the many prototype variations found across the SD70ACe fleet, including differences in headlights, isolated and non-isolated cabs, sunshades, brake wheels, cab roofs, and blower vent arrangements.
