Product Overview

This pre-owned Atlas GP-9 TT comes from the store owner's personal collection and remains in excellent condition. It has been barely run and carefully maintained, offering an opportunity to add a premium Atlas Gold Series locomotive to your roster with very little prior use.

Electro-Motive introduced the GP7 in 1949 by combining the proven machinery of the F7 with a practical hood-style carbody that improved visibility and made routine maintenance easier. The GP9 followed with an upgraded 1,750-horsepower prime mover while retaining the versatile road-switcher design that made the GP series so successful. These locomotives handled nearly every type of assignment, from local switching and branchline work to passenger service and mainline freight.

Grand Trunk's black, red, and white diesel scheme created a bold and recognizable appearance, and #4930 looks especially sharp with crisp white lettering and the railroad's distinctive styling. A GP9 is a natural choice for modelers interested in Canadian and Great Lakes railroading, transitional-era operations, or dependable road-switcher power that can move comfortably between yard, local, and road assignments.

As an Atlas Gold model, this locomotive combines the company's smooth-running drive with factory-installed ESU LokSound. The result is a well-detailed, versatile locomotive offering refined low-speed control, flexible DCC programming, directional lighting, and a broad selection of authentic diesel sound effects.

Why We Love It

The GP9 is one of those locomotives that can earn a place on almost any diesel-era railroad. It is equally believable switching a local industry, handling a branchline freight, or working in multiple on a longer mainline train. Atlas pairs that versatility with a smooth drive and factory-installed ESU sound, creating a locomotive that is enjoyable to operate as well as display.

This example is especially appealing because it has been barely run and comes from the store owner's carefully maintained personal collection. Its excellent condition, distinctive Grand Trunk decoration, and premium Gold Series electronics make it a strong addition for both operators and collectors.

Add Premium Grand Trunk Power to Your Railroad

Bring home a barely run Atlas Gold Series GP9 with smooth performance, factory ESU LokSound, and striking Grand Trunk decoration. Carefully maintained and offered from the store owner's personal collection, #4930 is ready for switching, road freight, or a featured place in your N scale locomotive roster.
