Unlike the standard factory A-B sets that typically pair a powered A-unit with an unpowered B-unit, this custom combination includes two separately produced locomotives: a fully powered F7A and a fully powered F7B. Both units are equipped with Broadway Limited's Paragon4 Sound & Control System.
Having power and sound in both locomotives creates a noticeably different operating experience. The second motor adds pulling capability for longer trains and grades, while sound from both the cab unit and booster unit gives the consist greater depth and presence. The EMD F7 was a 1,500-horsepower diesel locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between 1949 and 1953.
