The WalthersMainline HO Scale Rocket Train Booster Car recreates one of the specialized heavy-duty flatcars used to transport solid rocket booster components across the country as part of NASA's remarkable rail operation.

First introduced with the Space Shuttle program in 1981, NASA's rocket train carried solid rocket boosters from Morton Thiokol in Utah to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The train used massive four-truck flatcars to carry rocket components beneath protective hoods, with selected cars also equipped with refrigeration units to maintain a consistent temperature for sensitive propellant loads.

Finished in a special Artemis commemorative scheme, this car celebrates NASA's return to lunar exploration through the Space Launch System. It combines an unmistakable space-program appearance with the substantial size and mechanical presence of a specialized heavy-duty freight car.
