Introduced in the late 1960s especially for lumber service, the 56' Thrall All-Door Boxcar from WalthersProto(R) makes a unique and colorful addition to HO freight operations. Designed to protect weather-sensitive building materials and simplify loading and unloading, the design featured large sliding side doors for easy access, and many remained in service into the early 2000s.

The Green Bay & Western Railroad served Wisconsin and the upper Midwest for nearly a century, earning a reputation as an efficient regional bridge line connecting major railroads and industries across the Great Lakes region. The railroad handled a diverse mix of freight, including paper products, lumber, agricultural goods, and manufactured commodities tied to Wisconsin’s thriving industrial economy. To support these shipments, the Green Bay & Western utilized modern freight equipment such as the 56' Thrall All-Door Boxcar, which was especially well-suited for moving paper rolls, palletized goods, and bulky forest products. Its innovative all-door design allowed rapid loading and unloading while protecting sensitive cargo from the harsh Midwestern weather conditions encountered along the route.
